About Me ๐

While Melissa took a yoga classes and even sat in a few massage classes as a child, her official healing journey started in High School, learning how to connect with with the body and feel into muscle tissue for tension by a local Native American, who was also a retired Marine. She was so inspired by this connection that she enrolled in and Completed Massage School at Healing Arts Institute in 2004, using a grant she earned for high SAT Scores.
Melissa continued to pursue education in various things, and passionately learn about and share holistic healing practices. She became a medicinal cannabis advocate and protested Federal Raids alongside patients with Aids, Cancer, and other chronic illnesses. She worked with Americans for Safe Access, Marijuana Policy Project, and other local organizations to share information and fight for the legal protections cannabis patients enjoy today. While she is not a cannabis user herself, she supports the science and development of plant medicine across all plant species and for all conditions in which it can be beneficial.ย
Melissa continued on to learn how to teach yoga after falling in love with yoga at East Wind Yoga Studio in Roseville in 2011. She took her yoga training in 2012 from a unique certification program offering Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yoga of Astrology and Ayurvedic Yoga. She continued on taking two Yin trainings: one with local instructor James Kapicka, and an international instructor from Thailand. She has taken advanced teacher training courses from Marilyn Castilow, Destiny Eurkus, and Cori Martinez, as well as assisting training from Leap Yoga in Folsom and Ryan Bailey and Natasha Lynn. She apprenticed adaptive yoga for over a year (yoga for those missing limbs or with physical limitations), Volunteered offering yoga to Veterans at the VA Center, and has worked with children, sports teams, elderly, corporate, pregnancy, and super athletes. She also loves to self study, and incorporate everything she is learning into her classes.

Melissa also has a passion for education and music. She started Piano and choir at age 5, took jazz music classes in college, and now is learning guitar. Check out her video’s page to hear her sing! She is currently a Psychology student and wishes to use Music therapy to help individuals who have suffered from trauma, especially women and children. She holds weekly sound healings at a Mental Health outpatient center, and monthly public sound healings at Yoga Studios. She also does private ceremonies and sessions for anyone interested. In addition, she does musical performance fundraisers for local charities that support women and children 1-2x year. To find out more about her musical offerings, check the Events page.
Melissa now enjoys homesteading, raising a conscious, strong, compassionate and authentic daughter, teaching, studying, reading, playing music, eating delicious food, nature, hiking, friends, community, dance, and sunshine. Catch her at any of her weekly classes, yoga retreats, yoga teacher trainings, or musical performances. . . . or out playing with her daughter ๐
